Our final project this year in e9 was a collaborative production and advertisement of an imaginary product. This process took nearly the entirety of 4th quarter. My group consisted of people who had mostly never even spoken to each other let alone work together. At first this was a struggle, but I think we all quickly learned that our Myer Briggs and team personality tests had succeeded in building a cooperative team. Through this project I learned the importance of both listening to others' ideas and also making sure that my ideas were heard and understood when I felt passionate about pursuing them. My group received overwhelmingly positive feedback as our product was both tangible and desirable as we presented it to be. We changed little in our work because my team was extremely productive, inspired, and hardworking.

This last quarter I have worked on a wide variety of things. First I storyboarded, directed, and briefly acted in my group commercial. Which was when I first realized we were a dynamic fit. Our ideas bounced off of each others and they didn't get frustrated even when we had to take the same shot 30 times. ( I also worked outside of class to find high quality shots that wouldn't be available at school. ) In our next rotation I worked hard to voice my ideas for our graphic logo. Which at first was partially glanced over. As soon as I hit Adobe Illustrator though, my group started to listen to me and understand my vision for our product. I worked nonstop to provide a variety of logo options. In our last rotation I worked to integrate our logo and branding into a flash animation. It was a lot of work but I finished it without any major glitches. I had little spare time in this last quarter. But the time I did have I spent thinking of in depth information to contribute to the realism of our website, or researching things related to our project and how we should be inclined to present it.

After going through nearly 180 school days as an eCommunication student there are some things that Ive learned and some ways that Ive grown. I now have the ability to operate and create on Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Premiere Pro, and Dreamweaver. Besides my technical skills Ive acquired, I also now have grown as a person, team member, and creator. I know the psychological effects of colors and shapes in advertising. I've learned the mechanics behind and reasoning for various types of video shots. And I have experienced how emotionally draining animating absolutely anything is.
I have strengths as a visionary, and this year I have learned to maximize this by voicing my ideas. I still have weaknesses in active discussion and communication but I have made a tremendous amount of progress in comparison to my first eComm project where I could hardly mutter a word.

This quarter has been by far the most impactful part of my eComm experience. I remember when we were first told what our final would be, it terrified me. But I think that the part I feared the most in the beginning ended up being my favorite part; working with my team. I got lucky to be a part of a team lacking any do-nothing slackers, and full of teamwork, cooperation, communication, and consideration. The only thing I would change if I could would be starting in graphic design rather than video. But even with spending much of the lengthiest process having to brainstorm, our videos all turned out better than what any of us really expected. My overall take away from this quarter is to never go into a project dreading it based on the idea of teamwork. A team is what you make it, so make it great. Next year I hope to get even better at being a dynamic part of a team and harnessing my natural leader inclinations to make great things. Overall I think everyone in the program benefitted from this project, whether they know it or not, Im certain.
(I was unable to upload my animations, but they are included on my team's website)
